ROADRUNNER TO RELEASE TYPE O NEGATIVE’S LABEL CATALOG AS VINYL BOX SET :::: IT WILL BE SOLD EXCLUSIVELY AT INDEPENDENT RETAIL OUTLETS ON BLACK FRIDAY

New York, NY: What better way to celebrate Black Friday, the biggest shopping day of the calendar year, with the black-humored, doom ‘n’ gloom goth of Type O Negative? Fans can inject a little fun into the drudgery that is holiday shopping, courtesy of Type O!

Roadrunner Records will release a special vinyl box set exclusively via independent retailers on Black Friday, which lands on November 25th this year. Go here for more information on who is selling this incredibly limited piece.

As the first band to achieve platinum status on the Roadrunner Records roster, Type O Negative didn’t rewrite the rules. They simply tore the rule book up, burned what was left of it and did whatever the hell they wanted with the smoldering ash. The result was nothing short of brilliant, as they combined dirge-like doom with head down, gothy grooves, all the while retaining the sort of signature melody that made their songs utterly memorable, infesting your brain like a virus.

Of the box set, Type O’s Johnny Kelly said, “This looks great but we’re disappointed that Roadrunner couldn’t get it together to do the scratch ‘n’ sniff cover we wanted for The Origin of the Feces.”

The vinyl box includes all Roadrunner released Type O Negative material contained within one collector’s box. Each album will be issued on double green vinyl, with the album art recreated, including the controversial, rarely seen original cover of The Origin of the Feces. Type O fans know all about that cover and the anatomy which it features.

Each album will also have new, branded liner notes documenting the genesis and completion of each album.

An exclusive sticker sheet with six mini bumper stickers will also be included in this “must own” set for Type O Negative diehards. It’s an instant collector’s item.

This set includes the following releases:

Slow, Deep and Hard
The Origin of the Feces
Bloody Kisses

THE DEVIL’S BLOOD: Metal Blade Records To Release Band’s New Full-Length To North American Fans This January

Posted in All Metal, News with tags , , , on October 25, 2011 by Randy
Metal Blade Records is pleased to announce its union with THE DEVIL’S BLOOD, a hard rock band inspired by vintage metal and underground psychedelic rock of the days of yore. Metal Blade will be releasing the band’s upcoming full-length album, The Thousandfold Epicentre, in North America on January 17, 2012. The Thousandfold Epicentre features 11 tracks produced with the help of Pieter Kloos at Void Studios (Eindhoven, The Netherlands).

Says founder and band leader SL: “We are very pleased to be able to announce our partnership with a partner so deeply rooted in tradition and at the same time willing and able to extend their borders to include THE DEVIL’S BLOOD. This industrious quality makes us feel we have chosen a partner who shall not sit idly by as their seeds are growing, but instead shall water the orchard with love and passion so the fruits may become sweet as damnation’s wine. Our cult is growing, growing fast, and with the addition of Metal Blade to our family we shall endeavor to make the whole world dream the dreams of Death.”

Adds Metal Blade Records head Brian Slagel: THE DEVIL’S BLOOD has a sound that is quite unique in today’s scene. Reminiscent of the classic metal and psychedelic rock bands of the ’60s and ’70s, THE DEVIL’S BLOOD has created a dark and haunting world made up of intriguing music, strong vocals and musicianship, reflective artwork, and a theatrical stage show that is not to be missed. We are extremely excited to be working with THE DEVIL’S BLOOD and look forward to releasing their upcoming full-length The Thousandfold Epicentre in North America this January.”

SL comments further on the upcoming release: “The Thousandfold Epicentre has become a beautiful and horrible child, a child that is about to be offered up unto the Bull headed God. Within the flames of its creation we have heated our irons for the branding of the world. Within its words and music lies the entrance to the path towards the crossroads, towards the unending singularity and beyond. Our children for Moloch! Hail Satan!”

MEGADETH TO PERFORM ON ‘JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE’ OUTDOOR STAGE ON HALLOWEEN NIGHT ON THE EVE OF THE RELEASE OF THEIR NEW ALBUM ‘TH1RT3EN’ OUT VIA ROADRUNNER RECORDS NOVEMBER 1

Posted in All Metal, News on October 24, 2011 by Randy

BAND TO HEAD TO SOUTH AMERICA FOR HEADLINE SHOWS IN NOVEMBER
AND TOUR AMERICA IN 2012 ON THE RE-LAUNCHED ‘GIGANTOUR’

Ready for a real head-crushing Halloween? Then gear up for MEGADETH in all their metal glory, live in Hollywood, CA on Monday, October 31 on ABC-TV’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” where they’ll perform on the show’s outdoor stage.

The next day (11/1/11), the legendary and influential group-singer/guitarist DAVE MUSTAINE, drummer SHAWN DROVER, guitaristCHRIS BRODERICK and bassist DAVID ELLEFSON–will release TH1RT3EN (Roadrunner Records), which features the volcanic single“Public Enemy No 1.” Marking the band’s 13th studio album, it has already been hailed by Revolver magazine as “Megadeth’s best and most vital album of the 21st century (11/11),” while Spin cited the band’s continued relevance: “Mustaine’s fevered tirades bemoaning the state of the world feel utterly apt, given today’s headlines: ‘We the People’ clearly belongs on the apocalypse’s official soundtrack” (10/10/11).

In NovemberMEGADETH will head to South America for–appropriately–13 headlining shows in 9 countries beginning November 9 andwrapping December 1 (see tour dates below). In 2012, they will re-launch for the first time since 2008 their critically acclaimed package festival GIGANTOUR. The multi-artist bill–with metal heavyweights MOTÖRHEAD, VOLBEAT and LACUNA COIL, all personally picked by MUSTAINE–will kick off in early 2012 with dates tentatively set for late January through early March. GIGANTOUR was founded by MEGADETH frontman DAVE MUSTAINE in 2005 and was last in the U.S. in May 2008. Stay tuned for official tour dates and on-sale information at www.gigantour.com.

With 25 million global album sales, nine Grammy nominations under their bullet belts and having enjoyed five consecutive Platinum and multi-Platinum certifications, as well as seven Gold certifications during their career in America alone, MEGADETH continue to sharpen their attack on TH1RT3EN. They take down leaders who sell false truths and tap right into the collective paranoia of modern times. The album’s songs include “Black Swan,” “New World Order,” “Never Dead” and the introspective closer “13,” whereMustaine wrestles with the demons that he revealed in his first book, 2010’s Mustaine: A Heavy Metal Memoir, which hit the New York Times bestseller list in hardcover (and is now being re-released in paperback).

MUSTAINE recently talked about the new album and a few of his favorite songs. Of “Public Enemy No. 1,” MUSTAINE said, “I was dreaming of this riff and I woke up all of the sudden. I dialed my cell phone as fast as I could and recorded it immediately.” In an interview with Revolver magazine, Mustaine talked about “Whose Life (Is It Anyways?),” saying, “It’s energetic. It’s youthful. It’s not the typical Megadeth track with a lot of riffing. It’s more of a chord progression kind of thing; just a simple song.” And of “Never Dead,” he said, “I’d written that riff while out on tour; a real breakneck rhythm pattern…this has all the elements of a video-game song, too–it starts off spooky and builds.” MUSTAINE adds, “It’s killer.”
