Posted in All Metal, News with tags , , , , on July 28, 2011 by Randy

Western Australia’s masters of progressive metal experimentation VOYAGER have signed with the New Jersey-based prog metal pros at Sensory Records for the release of their upcoming fourth full-length album, The Meaning of I.

Conceived in 1999 by German-born musician Danny Estrin, VOYAGER are certainly well known throughout the prog metal circuit worldwide, having carved an incredible, diehard cult fanbase since inception. The unit’s previous three albums display their unique and even strange integration of symphonic, electronic and progressive elements crafted into a seamless, incredibly executed, multi-genre style all their own, bridging gaps between metal subgenres and even verging on 80’s pop.

The official street date for the incredibly layered fourth full-length The Meaning of I is set for October 11, 2011. But the band are also aiming this release to be available to fans in-person at their upcoming performance September 16 at the annual ProgPower USA in Atlanta, Georgia, where VOYAGER will share co-headline slots of the massive festival with Therion, Ihsahn, Sanctuary, Dream Evil, Labyrinth and more. Just days prior to ProgPower, on September 11, VOYAGER will make their debut North American performance at a one-off show in New York City alongside now-labelmates Creation’s End.

VOYAGER’s Debut North American Live Performances:

9/11/2011 Matchless – Brooklyn, NY w/ Creation’s End, Suspyre

9/16/2011 ProgPower USA – Atlanta, GA [info]

VOYAGER Australian Album Launch Performance:

10/15/2011 Amplifier – Perth, Western Australia

With an impressive history of Australian music awards, as well as many titles of “album of the month” in Romanian, Finnish, Italian, German and Belgian music press, VOYAGER‘s notoriety for their energetic live performances has captured audiences worldwide. The band have  battled geographical isolation to tour Europe twice, perform at ProgPower Europe 2006 and share stages with diverse acts like Nightwish, Steve Vai, Soilwork and Alestorm.

ISOLATION: New Track Stream From German Blackened Gloom Rockers Brought To You By CVLT Nation

Posted in All Metal, News with tags , , on July 28, 2011 by Randy

Today, CVLT Nation offers up a stream of “Closing A Circle,” from German blackened doom rockers, ISOLATION. “Closing A Circle” is the title track from the band’s recently released debut full-length. Commented guitarist/vocalist Johannes Schmid: “The song  is certainly one of the strongest tracks on the album and that’s why we chose it as the title track. The song contains nearly all elements that define our music. Lyrically, the song is about those moments in life where mistakes seem to repeat themselves and you feel  you cannot to do anything about it.”

Five years after ISOLATION released their first demo, Striding On The Path Of Nihil, Eisenwald finally presents their debut album. Appropriately titled Closing A Circle, the record, which was mixed and mastered at Studio Die Tonmeisterei (Long Distance Calling, Tephra, Omega Massif, etc.), marks the end of an era for the band. “Releasing our debut album was an important step to us and we wanted to make sure that we found our very own sound– so we took our time,” explains guitarist/vocalist Johannes Schmid. Musically, ISOLATION have been constantly evolving from the angry, chaotic, depressive black metal of Striding On The Path Of Nihil and the doomish second demo, A Prayer For The World To End, towards calmer more atmospheric regions, reaching its peak with the mesmerizing extensive riffing on Bleak.

ISOLATION in 2011 can generally be described as atmospheric, melancholic rock/metal with mostly clean singing tempered by occasional outbursts of harsh vocals. While hints of early black metal as exposed on their earlier offerings remain buried within their collective ambiance, it is indeed difficult to give ISOLATION’s style a definitive label.

“ISOLATION will go down well with the Isis, Cult Of Luna, A Storm Of Light, Neurosis crowd and with those who love Agalloch’s The Mantle. Music to sit down and listen to.” — Lords Of Metal

Posted in All Metal, News with tags , , , on July 27, 2011 by Randy

The new digital release from New York City-based doom/rock outfit THE RESURRECTION SORROW, the meager yet massive three-song The Scorpion Savior Sessions, is now available via iTunes.

While The Scorpion Savior Sessions is only a taste of what the band are working on these days — as the band write and build up to their next full-length album, set for release later this year — the EP stands on its own merit as well, reaping great reviews from media outlets and zines internationally over recent weeks. Recent footage of THE RESURRECTION SORROW performing one of the new tracks, “Scorpion Savior,” at a hometown NYC show in June at this location.

Review copies of The Scorpion Savior Sessions as well as interviews with the members of THE RESURRECTION SORROW are available via email and phone. Summon an Earsplit ninja to carry out all coverage requests, and stay tuned for more updates on the forthcoming album over the weeks ahead.

“…it’s immediately obvious that this is a band who aren’t comfortable staying in the same ballpark as before and are looking to expand their sonic palette. 4/5” – Onemetal

“…a band that clearly has a grip on the sound they want to play, and they execute it to near perfection. The songs are addicting and often hypnotizing or abrasive, and just show off a great deal of promise from the group. 9/10” – Apoch’s Metal Review

“As a hybrid of classic proto-metal, doom  and  thrash the band is both heavy and catchy all at once with cool melodic elements at play.” – Metal Army America

“…thick and heavy grooves, a heaviness that summons the Heavy Metal spirit that our beloved genre was built upon.” – Metal Odyssey

“It has been two years since their debut The Hour of the Wolf and if these samples are anything to go by, The Resurrection Sorrow can look forward to spreading their repertoire and fan base wider.” – Alternative Matter
