THE OFFSPRING’S NEW ALBUM ‘DAYS GO BY’ AVAILABLE JUNE 26

Posted in Artist Watch, New Music, News, Releases with tags , , , , , on June 1, 2012 by Randy

THE OFFSPRING will premiere the video for “Days Go By”–already a top ten hit on the national rock tracks chart–Friday, June 1 at Offspring.com and Vevo.com.  Directed by Lex Halaby, who did the same honors for the band’s 2009 “Kristy, Are You Doing Okay?” clip, it seamlessly blends performance footage of the band with scenes shot in the Southern California desert and captures the song’s reflective spirit about letting go of the past’s hard times and starting anew.

“Days Go By” is the title track of THE OFFSPRING’s new studio album, produced by Bob Rock and available June 26 (Columbia Records). The song was a highlight of the group’s two recent performances in Southern California: May 5 at the 20th Annual KROQ Weenie Roast Y Fiesta at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Irvine and a special club show May 3 at Alex’s Bar in Long Beach. At Alex’s Bar, the Huntington Beach, CA band–Dexter Holland (vocals, guitar), Noodles (guitar), Greg K (bass) and Pete Parada (drums)—also performed their 20-year-old Epitaph debut album Ignition in its entirety.  Check out footage from the show here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfTo3pHd1oU.

THE OFFSPRING’S last album, 2008’s Rise And Fall, Rage And Grace, featured the alternative and rock radio staples “Hammerhead” and “You’re Gonna Go Far, Kid.”  Also among the band’s best-known hits are the rock anthems “Self Esteem,” “Come Out And Play (Keep ‘Em Separated)” and “The Kids Aren’t Alright.”  The Huntington Beach, CA-based band has performed over 1100 shows across the globe and sold more than 36 million albums worldwide.  Their 1994 release Smash remains the highest-selling album of all-time on an independent label.

THE OFFSPRING will continue to tour worldwide through 2012.

Green Day will once again headline THE VOODOO MUSIC AND ARTS EXPERIENCE PRESENTED BY STEPHEN REHAGE.  The Grammy Award-winning trio last performed at VOODOO in 2004; their most recent appearance in New Orleans was at the historic re-opening of the Louisiana Superdome in September 2006.  Green Day will be releasing three albums, a trilogy entitled ¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tré! on Reprise Records.  ¡Uno! will be released on September 25, ¡Dos! on November 13, and ¡Tré! on January 15, 2013

Fellow headliners Neil Young & Crazy Horse also lead the 2012 VOODOO line-up which once again features artists from a variety of musical genres, while also reflecting the cultural gumbo that defines this historic and beloved American city.  The preliminary line-up also includes:  Skrillex; Justice; Tomahawk; Say Anything; Bootsy Collins; Gary Clark Jr.; and Preservation Hall Jazz BandVOODOO’s full line-up of 150 acts will be unveiled in the coming months.

“I believe this year’s line-up is developing into something really special,” says Stephen Rehage, the founder/producer of VOODOO.  “Green Day’s set in 2004 is one of the greatest performances in the festival’s 13-year history.  Having them choose to do their only U.S. show of 2012 at Voodoo is pretty extraordinary. And the confirmation of Neil Young & Crazy Horse is epic.  They are one of a handful of artists that you hope to have the privilege to work with at some point in your career.  It’s what you dream of when you create something like Voodoo.”

Celebrated as one of America’s most eclectic festivals and the final musical event of the annual U.S. music festival season, this year’s VOODOO–Friday, October 26, Saturday, October 27 and Sunday, October 28–will mark its 14th consecutive year.

Excitingly, new to this year’s annual musical celebration is on-site camping.  A longtime tradition at the most renowned music festivals around the world, this is the first time it will be offered to VOODOO attendees.  The inaugural camping experience will offer festival goers the chance to sleep under the stars amidst two hundred year old oak trees, picturesque lagoons and waterways of New Orleans’ historic City Park and located just steps away from the entrance to the annual Halloween weekend music celebration.  Camping options range from general tent camping with basic amenities to a luxurious all-encompassing camping experience, where concertgoers can arrive to move-in-ready 10×13 safari style tents complete with cots, bedding and pillows along with exclusive VIP access throughout the VOODOO weekend.  All details on the various VOODOO camping options, rules, regulations and FAQs can be found at the website (www.thevoodooexperience.com).

SANTANA AND THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND ANNOUNCE SIX SPECIAL SUMMER 2012 CO-HEADLINING DATES :::: NEW SANTANA ALBUM SHAPE SHIFTER SET FOR RELEASE MAY 15

Posted in Artist Watch, New Music, News with tags , , , , , , , , , , on May 4, 2012 by Randy

Two legendary groups join forces as Carlos Santana and the Santana Band announce six special co-headlining concerts with The Allman Brothers Band during July 2012. The dates kick off July 22 at the Darien Lake Performing Arts Center in Darien Lake, NY, and wrap July 30 at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD. Highlights also include shows at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater on July 24, and the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ on July 25. Tickets for the six dates begin going on-sale May 4.

It is a delight and an honor to finally share the stage, and the music, with Gregg Allman, Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes and The Allman Brothers Band,” says Carlos Santana. This is something that we’ve hoped to make happen for many years.” These special concerts follow the first leg of U.S. dates on Santana’s Shape Shifter Tour 2012.

Previously, Santana and The Allman Brothers have only intersected at major festivals. On touring together, Gregg Allman says, “We’ve all looked forward to doing this for a very long time.” The Allman Brothers Band line-up includes Gregg Allman (vocals and keyboards), Butch Trucks (drums, tympani), Jaimoe (drums), Warren Haynes (vocals, lead and slide guitar), Derek Trucks (slide and lead guitar), Oteil Burbridge (bass), and Marc Quinones (congas and percussion).  Earlier this year, the group was honored with a special GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award.

Santana’s tour dates with The Allman Brothers follow the May 15, 2012 release of Shape Shifter, their latest album-and the first for Carlos Santana’s new label Starfaith Records. The 13-song set is an instrumental tour de force long awaited by fans (one song features vocals by Santana’s lead vocalists Andy Vargas and Tony Lindsay). The album also features Chester Thompson on keyboards, Dennis Chambers on drums, Benny Rietveld on bass, Salvador Santana on keyboards, Raul Rekow on congas and Karl Perazzo on percussion.

Since Santana emerged from the San Francisco Bay Area music scene in the 1960s, the group has sold more than 100 million records, reached more than 100 million fans at concerts worldwide, and been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Santana has won 10 GRAMMYs, including a record-tying nine for a single project, 1999’s Supernatural (including Album of the Year and Record of the Year for “Smooth”). With the 2010 release of Guitar Heaven: The Greatest Guitar Classics of All Time, Santana joined the Rolling Stones as one of only two music acts in Billboard history to score at least one Top Ten album in each decade from the 1960s on. Among other honors, Carlos Santana is #20 on Rolling Stone’s list of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time”-“Santana’s crystalline tone and clean arcing sustain make him the rare instrumentalist who can be identified in just one note.”
