In the spirit of the band’s first independent release, the Crows will be kicking off the tour with two intimate club shows in their hometown of San Francisco – March 9th at Slims and March 10th at The Great American Music Hall (the shows sold out in record time). From there the band will head to Austin, Texas for the SXSW music conference to headline BMI’s Auditorium Shores show on March 16th – an annual favorite of both SXSW attendees and Austin music fans, that is free and open to the public.
On April 10th, Counting Crows will release their first new album in over 4 years, Underwater Sunshine (or What We Did On Our Summer Vacation). The album features songs both familiar and obscure, written by such artists as Gram Parsons, Tender Mercies, Big Star, Kasey Anderson and The Faces. Each interpretation offers an entire spectrum of emotion, delivered with the conviction and intense honesty the band is known for. Download a track from the new album at www.countingcrows.com.
To continue the band’s love of engaging fans, they are accepting Counting Crows covers – in partnership with Indaba Music and Guitar Center – to be released as a free Cover EP on their website. CHICKENFOOT ANNOUNCE SPRING TOUR DATES
Posted in Artist Watch, News, Releases with tags Chickenfoot, Joe Satriani, Kenny Aronoff, Michael Anthony, music, rock, Sammy Hagar, The Rock Tribune, TheRockTribune.com on February 21, 2012 by Randy| (NEW YORK, NY) – CHICKENFOOT, the super group featuring guitarist Joe Satriani, drummer Kenny Aronoff, former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony and frontman Sammy Hagar have announced A DIFFERENT DEVIL TOUR in continued support of their newest record “Chickenfoot III” (eOne Music/earMUSIC/Edel). “The Foot are road tested and ready to roll and can’t wait to play the new songs for the fans!” says front man Sammy Hagar. The tour will kick off May 4th in Lake Tahoe, NV and BLACK STONE CHERRY has been tapped to support.
The band’s second hit single, “Different Devil” has hit #13 with a bullet on the Mediabase Mainstream Rock Chart and #5 on the Mediabase Classic Rock Chart. This will be the bands first full US run since 2009. In November CHICKENFOOT completed a sold out “Road Test Tour” that took them through San Francisco, Los Angeles, St. Louis, Chicago and New York with a stop for a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! |
| BILLBOARD says, “It’s a rare case of a group that’s equal to – or perhaps even greater than – the sum of its parts…this is an album that really wins hearts with its granite thump’n’roll.” USA TODAY went as far to say that “Chickenfoot III” could be “the beginning of a riff-driven renaissance.” The band recently earned a GRAMMY nomination for the “Best Recording Package,” for the creative 3D design.
The first single, “Big Foot,” debuted at #1 on the Mediabase Classic Rock Chart holding the position for 11 weeks. “Chickenfoot III” debuted at #9 on the Billboard Top 100 and follows the band’s 2009 debut album, which debuted at #3 on the Billboard Top 100 and was certified gold for sales over 500,000 units by the Recording Industry Association of America. |
CHICKENFOOT is also partnering with Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity, for a second time to encourage fans to help alleviate some of the effects of the economy. In addition to ensuring a fair priced ticket, the band will make donations to a local food bank in each market and encourages fans to do the same.
