Posted in Releases with tags free track, Lightning Strikes, Rolling Stone, The Rock Tribune, The Smashing Pumpkins on March 18, 2011 by RandyTHE TRACK MARKS THEIR NINTH RELEASE FROM ‘TEARGARDEN BY KALEIDYSCOPE’
AND WILL BECOME AVAILABLE TOMORROW VIA THE BAND’S WEBSITE
THE SMASHING PUMPKINS released their ninth free track “Lightning Strikes” on Thursday, March 17. It will first be available for 24 hours at Rollingstone.com, where it can be downloaded at www.rollingstone.com. Then starting Friday, March 18, it will be available for free download at www.smashingpumpkins.com; the site also offers a widget enabling fans to host the song anywhere on the web. Pumpkins leader BILLY CORGAN says the song is “dedicated with affection to Mark Tulin…and all our great Japanese fans who are in our prayers.” Mark Tulin, the bassist and founding member of the pioneering psych-rockers the Electric Prunes, died last month. Tulin played in the Pumpkins and appears on tracks from the band’s Teargarden By Kaleidyscope work. He also toured with Corgan in the band Spirits In the Sky in2009.
“Lightning Strikes” is now the ninth song to be offered to fans via free download. It is from the Pumpkins’ Teargarden By Kaleidyscope, an in-progress 44-song work. Since December 2009, the band has been releasing one song at a time for free, with eight of the songs also available on two physical EPs that were released in 2010.
THE SMASHING PUMPKINS—singer/guitarist BILLY CORGAN, guitarist JEFF SCHROEDER, drummer MIKE BYRNE and bassist NICOLE FIORENTINO–recorded“Lightning Strikes,” says CORGAN, “by all the members of the band after we came off our last tour” at the end of 2010. “I feel this song organically hints at new directions without being forced.”
“Lightning Strikes” has an interesting back story. Explains CORGAN: “It was supposed to be more of a fun thing, a song originally written for the Electric Prunes. But I found an element in it that suggested a bigger picture, and unfortunately I stole it back from them. The lyric in my mind combines the isolation of modern life with the need for a never ending romantic story.”
For CORGAN, the process of releasing music one song at a time “has inspired me to treat each song as its own thought as opposed to a collective mentality where songs need to fit together. It has definitely helped me to focus, and pay more attention to what I’m trying to say with each release.”
In 2010, the Pumpkins performed three runs of dates in the U.S. plus shows in Asia, Australia, New Zealand and South America. Asked about the band’s touring plans for 2011, CORGAN says: “We had no plans of going on the road this year, but now we may go to Europe in the fall, and if that happens, we’ll play a few select dates in America.”
While She Sleeps Unveils New Worldwide Digital Single and Music Video for ‘Be(lie)ve’ at BlankTV’s Official YouTube Page
Posted in Releases with tags Be(lie)ve, iTunes, The Rock Tribune, While She Sleeps, YouTube on March 16, 2011 by RandySheffield, England’s WHILE SHE SLEEPS and BlankTV are pleased to unveil the brand new music video for the band’s new single, ‘Be(lie)ve’. The video is available for viewing now at BlankTV’s official YouTube page. The single is being released digitally worldwide by GOOD FIGHT MUSIC and is available now at iTunes and other digital stores. ‘Be(lie)ve’ was self-recorded and mixed by guitarist Mat Welsh in January 2011 in order to keep in tune with the band’s DIY ethics and style.
‘Be(lie)ve’ is a track that sets to bridge the gap between the band’s last album, The North Stands for Nothing, and a new, currently untitled album that the band is presently writing. As for the meaning behind the track, ‘Be(lie)ve’ sheds light on everything wrong that we see around us day after day in society, and how we rebel against it. The track reflects the passion and drive that is WHILE SHE SLEEPS.
WHILE SHE SLEEPS released their digital-only album, The North Stands for Nothing on GOOD FIGHT MUSIC in November. For more information on WHILE SHE SLEEPS, please visit these sites:

Not Tonight Josephine to Release New Full-Length Album All on the Horizon on April 26th, 2011
Posted in Releases with tags All On The Horizon Tour, Not Tonight Josephine, The Rock Tribune on March 14, 2011 by RandyCover of Ace of Base’s ‘All That She Wants’ to Hit Radio Airwaves and iTunes on March 29th, 2011; Over 60,000 Views on YouTube and Counting!
Tampa, FL natives NOT TONIGHT JOSEPHINE are pleased to reveal the title for their April 26th release. The record will be titled All on the Horizon, and is the band’s follow up to their 2009 EP, This Orphan Heart. The band teamed up with producer Brett Hestla (Creed, Dark New Day, Framing Hanley) in the studio for All on the Horizon. Brett Hestla is also credited for producing This Orphan Heart.
The new record, which builds upon the This Orphan Heart’s pop-informed modern rock with more mature songwriting and a slightly darker bend, was recorded over the summer of 2010. The band currently has the single ‘Carousel’ available for streaming at http://www.myspace.com/nottonightrock, and the music video is available for viewing here. Their upcoming single, a cover of Ace of Base’s popular tune ‘All That She Wants’, is set to hit radio airwaves and iTunes in late March. The cover has seen amazing reception from fans, especially on YouTube where the track has seen a remarkable 60,000 hits since January 29th, 2011.
To celebrate the release of the album, NOT TONIGHT JOSEPHINE is scheduled to head out on a tour of the Eastern U.S. in late spring. The ‘All on the Horizon Tour’ will begin in late April and will travel the states through the end of May. The band is also planning on making appearances at the St. Patrick’s Day Block Party at Durty Nelly’s in St. Petersburg, FL on March 17th, and at University of South Florida’s Student Union for their tour kickoff on April 24th.
Since the release of their debut, This Orphan Heart EP and being named “Tampa, FL’s Most Buzz-worthy Rock Band” by Creative Loafing in Fall 2009, NOT TONIGHT JOSEPHINE have quickly been raising their status in rock’s up-and-coming scene. 2010 saw the band selected for a main stage performance at the Florida Music Festival in April, shooting a series of webisodes for Busch Gardens’ Howl-O-Scream festival in September, and nailing down a much-coveted slot on WSUN 97X’s annual Next Big Thing concert in Tampa, FL in December. The band has also performed at the November 2009 Ford 300 NASCAR Championship Race, the Miami Music Festival, the Driven Music Conference, XFC 9, MudFest, WSUN 97x’s BackYard BBQ, and WJRR Native Noise at House of Blues Orlando, FL. NOT TONIGHT JOSEPHINE has performed with acts such as Anberlin, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Sick Puppies, Drowning Pool and more. With their new single ‘Carousel’ and its video now leaving fans bloodthirsty for more music, NOT TONIGHT JOSEPHINE will certainly be climbing the ladder ever higher in 2011.
