THE KOTTONMOUTH KINGS REUNITE WITH SAINT DOG ON THEIR NEW ALBUM, MILE HIGH – OUT AUGUST 14th

Posted in All Metal, Artist Watch, New Music, News, Releases with tags , , , , , on July 17, 2012 by Randy

New Solo Track From Johnny Richter “Good Pot 2” Available Online, Summer Tour Dates

To mark the release of the group’s thirteenth studio album, Mile High (out August 14th), the Kottonmouth Kings have reunited with Saint Dog, the original emcee who appeared on the group’s debut album and spit his lispy rhymes on classic songs such as “Suburban Life” and “Bump.”  Saint Dog recorded the explosive new track “Judgment Day,” which sees him ripping it up with the Kings for the first time since 1998’s Royal Highness.

“D-Loc had a song idea and thought it would be cool to get Saint Dog on it. We flew Saint out from Minnesota and just started vibing on music together and reviving that musical chemistry we had together,” commented Brad X. “We initially just went in to record just the one track, but once we got in the studio together we just started banging out songs and came out with six new songs. I think it was really therapeutic for all of us and it was a great creative spark on this record.”

While in the studio for Mile High, The Kings own Johnny Richter recorded a new solo track titled “Good Pot 2.”  The track is online for fans to listen to as they anxiously await the full album from The Kings.  Check out the song at http://bit.ly/LRDW28.

To celebrate the release of their most potent album to date, the Kottonmouth Kings are taking their mind bending brand of rip-hop on the road for one of the most anticipated underground packages this year, The Mile High Tour. The Kings enlisted horror master Prozak, underground heavyweight Big B, and country hip-hop misfits the Moonshine Bandits.  See below for dates.

Heritage Hunter Tour Review: Live from Pittsburgh

Posted in All Metal, News, Reviews with tags , , , , , , , , on April 23, 2012 by Randy

When the Heritage Hunter Tour kicked off on April 4th, Mastodon and Opeth knew that pulling off 29 shows in 38 days was going to be a grueling ride.  With most of the North American tour consisting of stops in the United States, it also includes two different stints in Canada.  Both bands are veterans of the game, making them quite capable of pulling off an unforgettable experience for fans of all ages…any tour…large or small.

Of the two headlining acts, Opeth opened the Pittsburgh show with some of the most technical progressive metal heard around the world.  Hailing from Stockholm, Sweden, these guys are one of the best at what they do and seeing it live makes you appreciate their work even more.  With tracks like Window Pane and Deliverance, they certainly have the tunes to keep a house on their feet for an entire hour plus set.  From start to finish they pour out everything they have and leave it all on the stage, leaving the entire crowd begging for more by night’s end.  Opeth is certainly a must see for any American metal head…but watch closely, because an elaborate North American tour isn’t something that occurs all that often.

With Mastodon headlining, the show would be one to remember.  Ripping through cuts Sleeping Giants and Spectrelight, they kept the crowd’s attention for the entire night like an ADHD gamer playing the latest HALO.  Granted there was some disconnect with the fans, the band was strictly business on stage.  The entire set was treated like it was their last, showcasing their passion and energy.  It was a display of pure American sludge/progressive metal, that everyone who’s ever listened to metal can appreciate and enjoy.  Bottom line, Heritage Hunter Tour is a must see.

DragonForce TO TOUR THIS SPRING THE POWER WITHIN TO BE RELEASED ON APRIL 17 FREE DOWNLOAD + PRE-ORDER AVAILABLE NOW

Posted in All Metal, Artist Watch, New Music, News, Releases with tags , , , , , , , on March 9, 2012 by Randy

(New York, NY): European power metal dynamos DragonForce have announced plans to return to North America for a spring tour. This outing marks the band’s first full trek with brand new singer Marc Hudson, who also makes his recorded debut on The Power Within. The album lands at retail on April 17.

Hudson premiered his voice at a series of intimate North American gigs last fall. The performances were met with much praise and approval from the band’s diehard fanbase. Now the vocalist will be able to showcase his pipes to other parts of the country and beyond, where a similar reaction is expected for this talented up ‘n comer with undeniable chops.

The tour kicks off April 21 at the annual New England  Metal and Hardcore Fest in Worcester, Massachusetts and makes several stops on the East Coast before winding through Canada and into the Midwest before wrapping out west on May 11 in Anaheim, California. L.A.-based metal warriors Holy Grail, and Huntress, a five-piece metal band lead by vocalist Jill Janus, who delivers an unparalleled four-octave range thanks to her opera background, will provide support on this run.

Pre-orders for The Power Within are available as of today. You can pre-order The Power Within bundle and receive an exclusive autographed poster and a download of the album the day before it’s available in stores.
