First KBB RECORDS Signing

ASKING ALEXANDRIA guitarist BEN BRUCE and co-manager KYLE BORMAN are proud to announce the launch of KBB RECORDS and the signing of the label’s first act, SCARE DON’T FEAR.

“After years of planning, touring, writing and learning, and after ups and downs, arguments and agreements, I have grown to not only love the music industry, but understand it and respect it,” says co-founder BEN BRUCE. “KBB Records is a label run by artists, for artists. With my love and passion for music along with my knowledge and understanding of the music industry it’s our goal to work alongside incredible artists of all genres and to create and release amazing music for the world to fall in love with.”

The first band signed to the new label is SCARE DON’T FEAR, a Providence, RI-based fusion of hip-hop and metal.

“Everyone in SCARE DON’T FEAR is extremely proud to be a part of KBB RECORDS. SDF are huge fans of ASKING ALEXANDRIA, so when Ben and Kyle approached us about teaming up, we were stoked. We have been working at this goal for over five years and it’s a very rewarding feeling to not only get signed, but to get signed to a label that has such an amazing team behind it. Adds Kyle Borman about the new label: “KBB started as a small recording studio that Ben and I started together a few years ago with the intentions of providing traveling bands a means to record high end, professional records and demos while out on the road. Together, Ben and myself have managed to turn what started out as a small, mobile recording studio, into an artist friendly record label with a team of staff with the experience and passion that can rival even the largest record labels around the world. KBB Records is dedicated to developing talented and passionate artists of all genres and helping them share their music with the world and accomplishing their dreams.”

New Album ‘Rise Of The Lion’ Drops in North America on April 29, 2014 via Rise Records – Pre Order Today via www.MMIRiseOfTheLion.com

Upcoming “Up Close And Personal” Headline Tour Hits the U.S. East Coast in April/May 2014 with For The Fallen Dreams – Ticket Price Includes a Hard Copy CD!

MISS MAY I’s blistering new offering, Rise Of The Lion, is set to hit stores in North America on April 29, 2014 via Rise Records (April 28 in the UK, April 25 in Australia). This is MISS MAY I’s fourth album and the first to be produced by the legendary Terry Date (Pantera, Deftones, White Zombie, Bring Me The Horizon). The countless fan letters the band has received over the years are the inspiration for the tracks on Rise Of The Lion, and each track is written from the perspective of those fans or responses to them.

Today, the band slams out of the gate with a double dose of metal, offering up their brand new single ‘Gone’ along with its accompanying music video via the official Rise Of The Lion launch site, www.MMIRiseOfTheLion.com. Take a listen now and while visiting the site, check out the band’s three studio updates, as well as tour date information. Beginning today at the site, you can pre-order the album in digital, physical CD, and vinyl versions, as well as special pre-order packages including exclusive Rise Of The Lion shirts, necklaces, posters, and more!

“We wanted to release a video that showed the true bare bones of our band,” states frontman Levi Benton. “We really found ourselves on this new record and we felt we needed a video that had no bells and whistles and was just five guys jamming and thrashing. It also shows the creation of the album artwork, which is a real statement about MISS MAY I. The lion logo that is being tattooed represents our band as a whole.”

Levi adds, “‘Gone’ is about heartbreak and feeling like you are lost within that heartbreak. We know everyone has felt this, so as this record being letters back to our fans we wanted to address this. One too many times I have read a letter about someone feeling so broken they felt they felt like they couldn’t make it and that our music helped them find a way. This song is for them!”

The worldwide release of Rise Of The Lion will be supported by a brief headline tour of the United States this April and May, with support from For The Fallen Dreams. MISS MAY I’s “Up Close and Personal” Tour will stop in eight cities, including a closer in their home state of Ohio at Rock On The Range. Get this – each ticket price includes a copy of Rise Of The Lion hard copy CD!

MISS MAY I U.S. Tour Dates:

4/29     Chicago, IL @ Beat Kitchen

4/30     Grand Rapids, MI @ The Pyramid Scheme

5/1       Pontiac, MI @ The Pike Room at Crofoot Ballroom

5/2       Pittsburgh, PA @ Smiling Moose

5/3       New York, NY @ The Studio at Webster Hall

5/4       Baltimore, MD @ The Ottobar

5/6       Philadelphia, PA @ The Barbary

5/18     Columbus, OH @ Rock On The Range

After the resounding underground success of their debut full-length release Monument, MISS MAY I took a step beyond the metalcore world they had grown up in with the release of their album At Heart in 2012. The record, produced by renowned record producer Machine (Lamb Of God), proved to be one of the strongest and most surprising metal records of the last few years, spawning huge singles in the songs ‘Hey Mister’ and ‘Day By Day’. Entering the Billboard Top 200 charts in its first week at #32, At Heart saw the band embrace a more mainstream metal approach to their music. During their 2012 Vans Warped Tour main stage onslaught, the At Heart campaign made massive leaps, seeing MISS MAY I nominated for ‘Best New Talent’ award at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards, as well as headlining the Alternative Press 2012 Tour, and picking up support at Active Rock Radio for the first time. On the live side, the band was hand-picked for tours with the likes of Five Finger Death Punch, Killswitch Engage and Bullet For My Valentine.

Review: Stolen Babies @ Chicago House of Blues 1/28/2014

Circulating on rock radio right now is a very intriguing band that goes by the name of Stolen Babies. Their sound is very reminiscent of early Industrial Metal, mixed with a strong Shock Rock influence. Sprinkle a little accordion in there, maybe some 55 gallon drum, then choose either a guitar or bass (never both at the same time), and wa-lah.

Stolen Babies are currently embarked on tour with two power house bands in rock (Stone Sour and Pop Evil), and most dates on this tour have been sold out. We were fortunate to cover the Chicago House of Blues stop, and honestly, we were mind blown. They are the opener for this tour, and with only 3 bands on the bill, they had ample time to melt faces. From the first note, to the last riff, they managed to strangle hold the crowd. Regardless if they’ve never been heard, their arsenal of songs is a crowd mover…exploding with an instant pit, full of elbows and crowd surfers.

The band consists of Dominique Lenore Persi (vocals), Rani Sharone (bassist and guitarist) and Gil Sharone on drums. One interesting thing about the band and their sound is Dominique…and she isn’t just a vocalist. On certain songs she beats away at that 55 gallon barrel hanging from what appears to be an engine hoist, giving a slight percussion that you’d expect to hear in bands like Slipknot and Mushroom Head. But, there’s more: the unique sound doesn’t stop there because she also plays an accordion… YES, AN ACCORDION! This throws a completely different aspect into this band’s sound that has already separated them from traditional rock/metal bands. To say the least, these guys are a true experimental rock band and have certainly found their niche in an industry constantly looking for new sounds.

-Pop Evil highlights included Leigh Kakat coming out and climbing on the crowd to sing
-Stone Sour’s Corey Taylor played Alice in Chains’ “Nutshell” solo, and also the first 2/3 of “Through Glass” before the band erupted
-Within each set, there were some sound issues

Only a few more dates remain on this tour…check them out below. If you aren’t able to make it to a show, definitely get on your computer and check out Stolen Babis online and hear their fascinating sound for yourself.
