DEAD BY WEDNESDAY Guitarist Leaves, National Open Auditions, New EP, New Label, CT Music Awards Nominations

Posted in All Metal, Artist Watch, Featured, New Music, News, Releases with tags , , , , , , on September 23, 2013 by Randy

Due to personal reasons, guitarist Ross Ragusa has chosen to amicably part ways with Connecticut based metal band DEAD BY WEDNESDAY. Ross states, “I love my brothers in DBW, I wish them nothing but success, as they deserve it for the years of hard work they put into this project. This was the hardest decision I’ve ever had to make in my life. But the road has done serious damage to my back and neck, so I need to step away to get healthy, pursue an education in music, and come out strong to become the musician I was born to be.”

As hard as it was for the rest of the band to hear this, the show must go on, and the remaining band members wish him nothing but the best. “Although we will miss Ross on many different levels, we look forward to the excitement and possibilities of working with some new energy and flesh blood. We don’t care how long it takes for our search, but hopefully our ‘Randy Rhodes’ will walk through the door.” – Opus, drummer of DBW.

DBW will be holding national auditions for their replacement guitarist. All candidates must be pro and willing to tour. According to the band, “To be considered, you must be as good or better than Mr. Ross Ragusa. If you think you got what it takes, and are serious about your career, emailOmindsnap@aol.com.”

The band was planning on writing a full-length album with Ross, but because of his departure they will instead finish the seven songs that they’ve already written and recorded with him, and release it as an EP. It will also feature Charlie Bellmore (the guitarist of Kingdom of Sorrow/Jasta), who will be finishing off some of the guitar solo duties. They are currently in the studio with producer Nicholas T. Rage, who has recorded the likes of Hatebreed, Kingdom of Sorrow, andToxic Holocaust. Their new EP, titled The Death of the Rockstar, will be released early 2014 through Mindsnap Music and distributed by Fake Four, Inc / Red Eye, followed by a nationwide tour. Their first single off the EP, “Left for Dead” is is also featured on the summer release of HATEWEAR’s “For The Headbanger’s/Brutal New Music Vol. # 4” comp CD out now! Now on to some exciting news!! On September 17, 2013, at the Second Annual Connecticut Music Awards at The Bushnell in Hartford, CT, DEAD BY WEDNESDAY snagged the award for “Best Metal” band – for the second year in a row! They were also the only metal band to be nominated for “Best Overall” band.

“We are super happy to have won the best metal award two years in a row, and want to thank all of our family, friends, and fans who voted and believe in us, helping us to win again.” – Mike Modeste, bassist of DBW.

More About NONONO:

NONONO’s “Pumpin Blood” is spreading across the interwebs and climbing the Alternative radio charts with purpose, becoming omnipresent by way of subliminal infiltration. You either know the song already or you’re not yet aware that you know it. “Pumpin Blood” is the soundtrack to a new Sparkling Ice campaign that’s now running. The song is shooting up the radio charts thanks to early support from influential stations like KROQ/LA, KYSR/LA, WKQX/Chicago, LIVE105/SF, WHFS/Baltimore, KROX/Austin, Sirius/Alt Nation and Music Choice “Pumpin Blood” represents just one angle of the NONONO sound however. Other songs such as “Down Under,” and “Like The Wind” fluctuate across styles, genres and moods. “Pumpin Blood” is the bait that will allow their other angles to be discovered on their upcoming debut album.

NONONO’s “Pumpin Blood” is now for sale on iTunes, Amazon and all other DSP’s and streaming on Spotify. Check out the official video for  “Pumpin Blood,” stream the song onSoundcloud and take a listen to the Shapeshifters Remix of “Pumpin Blood,” which just premiered on Vice/Noisey and is exclusively for sale on Beatport as part of a remix package.

As Stina affirms: “There’s something that ties the sound of the songs together but they’re all a little bit of different. We never wanted to decide upon a genre or what the NONONO sound was. We just always go with what we felt like and what inspired us that day – you go from being happy to being sad to being shallow to being deep, so whatever mood we’ve been in that’s what song will emerge.”

Part of the identity of the band is sourced from the freedom that emerged when they all turned down musical projects that they weren’t comfortable with. But, as Stina explains, that can be applied across other areas of life too: “Most of the time people want to say yes, like, ‘Yes, I want the job’ or ‘Yes, I want to be your girlfriend.’ But it’s a lot harder to say no. It’s really important to live your life for yourself, and what things you want to do and what relationships you want to keep.”

NONONO is a triumph of the positive aspect of negative thinking.

Posted in All Metal, Artist Watch, New Music, News, Shows, Uncategorized with tags , , on September 19, 2013 by Randy

Still hot off this summer’s Rockstar Mayhem Festival, EMMURE plan to enter the studio later this year. Their sixth full length album for VICTORY RECORDS will be released Spring 2014. EMMURE will be closing out 2013 by headlining the Never Say Die Tour in Europe (October 4th to 26th) and then a full US tour (October 29th to November 22nd) alongside ASKING ALEXANDRIA, SEVENDUST, ALL THAT REMAINS, and FOR TODAY.

Guitarist and founding member Jesse Ketive stated, “We couldn’t be happier to announce that following Never Say Die! and the Asking Alexandria Tour we will be heading into the studio to work on the new album which is aimed for a Spring release!  We have been working hard in between our rigorous world touring schedule this past year and a half and we can’t wait to unveil new material. We have resigned to Victory Records and there will be a lot of new things developing for EMMURE through the end of the year. Thank you for your constant support through the years and we promise to deliver one of the best EMMURE records to date. See you on tour.”
