The world’s most legendary music boulevard is packing up and heading east to Austin, Texas for five days of music, comedy and an interactive lounge during SXSW.
The West Hollywood Marketing & Visitors Bureau and the Sunset Strip Business Association have partnered to create a Sunset Strip lounge at the SXSW tradeshow March 14-17. Attendees are invited to stop by The Sunset Strip lounge at the Austin Convention Center (booths 523 & 525) and enjoy a photo gallery featuring some of the top performances on The Strip, Sunset Strip Music Festival (SSMF) footage, meet with organizers of the SSMF, comedians from The Comedy Store and representatives from the West Hollywood Marketing & Visitors Bureau and The Roxy Theatre. Attendees can also enter the chance to win a VIP experience at this year’s SSMF, scheduled for August 18-20. (VIP packages will be given away each day during the tradeshow.)
Additionally, Sunset Strip venues The Roxy Theatre and The Comedy Store will host nights of entertainment at venues in Austin during the music festival. The Roxy will take over the Rusty Spurs venue (405 E 7th Street) for official SXSW “Austin Rox” parties on March 16 and 17, showcasing some of The Strip’s top talent. Lineups include:
Wednesday, March 16: Performances by Deep Dark Robot featuring Linda Perry, Johnny Polygon and Sunset Strip Music Festival (SSMF) alum The Tender Box, Awolnation, Vanaprasta and Pigeons featuring Cisco Adler. LAMB OF GOD’s CHRIS ADLER and MAPEX Drums were thrilled to see a whopping 730 fans arrive at the “A Throne with a View” tour’s impressive Salt Lake City, UT kick-off show at BackBeats Drum Shop on Monday the 28th. A typical drum clinic will draw about 50-70 attendees. This impressive turnout is only a taste of what is yet to come on the “A Throne with a View” tour, and ADLER hopes to see many more fans out at his upcoming appearances. The tour will take ADLER through the country until March 16th when the tour lands in Hollywood, FL at Resurrection Drums. The tour is sponsored by MAPEX DRUMS, AQUARIAN, PRO MARK, GIBRALTAR, MEINL, and ZOOM (SAMSON).
“Never would I have expected such a massive and warm response,” states ADLER. “I had a blast jamming tunes and talking shop and SLC really brought it.
