CA/UT- January 5, 2012 – The wait for new music from The Used is over. Head to KROQ.com now to hear the first single “I Come Alive” off the upcoming album Vulnerable out March 27th via their own label Anger Music Group partnered with Hopeless Records. The debut single will be available for purchase January 17th on itunes.

With over 3 Million albums sold worldwide, the band continues to create music that they stand behind 100%. “”I Come Alive” was the first song completed once we began writing this album. It sets up the record really well and I like how diverse and theatrical it is”, says front man Bert McCracken.

The band chose to go back in the studio with Jon Feldman who had accompanied them on 2007’s Lies for the Liars, 2004’s In Love And Death, 2003’s Maybe Memories and their first self-titled album from 2002.  Bassist Jeph Howard said working with Feldman on this album “was very positive. We really went out and expanded on this album. I’m excited for it to be more then a typical Used record.”

Full track listing and cover art will be released later this month.

The band will be performing at Soundwave Festival in Australia next month. For dates and more information on The Used, check out: www.TheUsed.net

40TH ANNIVERSARY REISSUE OF ICONIC L.A. WOMAN ALBUM

AND NEW DVD/BLU-RAY “MR. MOJO RISIN’: THE STORY OF L.A. WOMAN” JANUARY 24, 2012 VIA RHINO AND EAGLE ROCK ENTERTAINMENT

DVD TO BE SCREENED FRIDAY, JANUARY 20 AT THE EGYPTIAN THEATRE
IN HOLLYWOOD WITH ELEKTRA RECORDS’ JAC HOLZMAN, ROCK RADIO DJ
JIM LADD AND SPECIAL SURPRISE GUESTS

“THE YEAR OF THE DOORS” officially kicks off on Monday, January 9 at noon Eastern when the iconic rock band will officially debut the first new, completely unreleased song in 40 years, “SHE SMELLS SO NICE.”  The bluesy track captures the band–organist RAY MANZAREK, guitarist ROBBY KRIEGER, drummer JOHN DENSMORE and late singer JIM MORRISON–joyfully barreling through the full-throttle original. Bruce Botnick, the album’s co-producer with the band, recently made the discovery while reviewing the L.A. WOMAN session tapes. The song will premiere on the band’s Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/thedoors) on Monday and will then be serviced to radio the following day.

Next up in news from THE DOORS:  On Friday, January 20 at 7:30 PM there will be a one-time special screening of “Mr. Mojo Risin’: The Story of L.A. Woman” (Eagle Rock Entertainment DVD/Blu-ray) at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, CA with special surprise guests.  Jac Holzman–who signed the group to Elektra Records–and Los Angeles rock radio veteran Jim Ladd will present the film and take questions about the group’s final album and legacy afterwards at a public Q&A session.

“Mr. Mojo Risin’: The Story of L.A. Woman”(Eagle Rock Entertainment DVD/Blu-ray) is told through new interviews with MANZAREK, KRIEGER and DENSMORE as well as Elektra Records founder JAC HOLZMAN, original manager Bill Siddons, engineer/co-producer Bruce Botnick and others.  The high-definition video also features live and studio performances as well as rare archival photos.  This fascinating documentary contains rare footage of The Doors in the studio and on stage.  The documentary was made with the full involvement, approval and cooperation of The Doors.

The group’s final album–1971’s L.A. WOMAN, with the signature hits “L.A. Woman,” “Love Her Madly” and “Riders On The Storm”–is being celebrated with a special 40th anniversary two-CD release from Rhino and a behind-the-scenes DVD/Blu-ray from Eagle Rock Entertainment.

In addition to “She Smells So Nice,” the second disc of the L.A. WOMAN reissue includes eight never-before-heard versions of songs from the album.  Alternate takes of “L.A. Woman,” “Love Her Madly” and “Riders On The Storm” offer a fresh view on this landmark album, which was the group’s sixth straight Top 10.  The studio chatter between the songs is a revelation, transporting listeners to The Doors Workshop: the West Hollywood rehearsal space where they recorded the album with Botnick.  One segment in particular captures a fascinating moment of inspiration when Morrison suggests they add the now-iconic thunderstorm sound effects to the beginning of “Riders On The Storm.”

L.A. WOMAN marked THE DOORS’ swan song, as MORRISON would pass away a few months after its release. At the time, Rolling Stone’s Robert Meltzer called it “The Doors’ greatest album…A landmark worthy of dancing in the streets (5/27/71).”  The first band to release eight consecutive platinum albums, THE DOORS were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1993 and received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2007.

KILLSWITCH ENGAGE PART WAYS WITH SINGER HOWARD JONES BAND STATEMENT ON THE MATTER IS AS FOLLOWS

Posted in All Metal, Artist Watch, News, Releases with tags , , , , , , on January 5, 2012 by Randy

“To our family, friends and fans: We have decided to continue on without Howard Jones as the singer of Killswitch Engage.  We love Howard and are thankful for the nine years that we’ve had him in the band.  Out of respect for everyone involved we will not be discussing the specific reasons behind this decision. Howard is a part of our family and always will be, and we wish him well. He has left big shoes to fill, so we certainly have our work cut out for us to find the next singer of Killswitch, something we plan on making priority #1 going forward.  Most importantly, thanks to all of you for all the support throughout the years and for sticking by us for all this time.  We really do appreciate it and we very much look forward to having a new record for all of you in the not too distant future that we can all be proud of.  Sincerely, Adam, Joel, Mike & Justin.”

METALLICA TO RELEASE CURRENT EP, BEYOND MAGNETIC, ON CD ON JANUARY 31ST FOUR TRACK EP, FEATURING FOUR PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED SONGS, OUT NOW FROM DIGITAL RETAILERS

Posted in Artist Watch, New Music, News, Releases, Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , on January 4, 2012 by Randy
January 4, 2012 – Los Angeles, CA – Metallica has announced that is “has decided to go old school” and will release its current digital EP, Beyond Magnetic, on CD worldwide at retail on January 30th and on January 31st in North America. The EP, released via all digital retailers on December 13th, features four tracks recorded during the sessions for 2008’s 2x-platinum Death Magnetic, the band’s fifth consecutive No. 1 album.

Said the members of Metallica of Beyond Magnetic: “During the Death Magnetic album sessions in 2007 and 2008, we originally recorded 14 songs. When it came time to pick the songs for the final album, we decided on 10 songs that you’ve all come to know over the last three years. Some of you may have heard bits and pieces of those other songs on ‘Mission Metallica’ (remember ‘Mission Metallica’?!) or heard rumors about them during the recording process, and wondered, ‘What ever happened to those other four songs???.’  We kept them in the vault and decided to pull them for our 30th anniversary celebration last month, so here are the four leftover tracks from the Death Magnetic sessions. They are ROUGH mixes, unfinished to their original degree of mixing from March ’08. These four songs were released as gift to our closest fans, the members of our Fan Club, to enjoy. Now they’re being made available to you.”

Metallica celebrated its 30th anniversary as a band last month, performing four shows at the Fillmore Theatre in San Francisco, CA, exclusively for members of their fan club, the Metallica Club.
