LOS ANGELES’ THE ROXY THEATRE LAUNCHES ‘NO. 1’, AN EXCLUSIVE PRIVATE LABEL CRAFT BEER CREATED FOR THE LEGENDARY SUNSET STRIP NIGHTCLUB BY THE KARL STRAUSS BREWING COMPANY

Since the beginning of rock ‘n roll, nothing has made a finer companion for the listening experience than beer.  Los Angeles’THE ROXY THEATRE has announced ‘No. 1,’ an exclusive private label craft beer created for the legendary Sunset Strip venue by the Karl Strauss Brewing Company.

THE ROXY ‘No. 1’ is unprecedented; no other entertainment venue in Los Angeles has their own private brew.  It is a medium-bodied golden ale with toasted malt flavors and a dry citrus hop character (Specs: 5.0 % ABV 7 SRM 17 IBU). Starting Monday, December 12, it will be available on tap at THE ROXY indefinitely.

“The Roxy’s love affair with beer started at our first vegan beer fest,” states Nic Adler, owner of THE ROXY.  “Introduced to us by LA’s premier craft beer bar, Tony’s DartsAway, we took it slow. As our palette matured, we started to bring in more and more craft and as important local beers. This is when our relationship with Karl Strauss started,”

Adler adds: “After carrying a number of Karl Strauss beers, we had the idea to do something ourselves. We worked with KS to get the right flavor profile, something that was special but also a beer that everyone could enjoy while they watched their favorite band. I think our golden ale represents The Roxy’s take on what a great craft beer should be– fresh, cold and easy drinking.”

ABOUT THE ROXY
Though traditionally known as a music venue, The Roxy is much more than four walls, a sound system, and (almost) 40 years worth of music and notorious memories. As a brand, The Roxy has expanded to a partner in the community, a promoter of the arts, a style and culture curator, and a support for bands throughout the country. It is the leading venue in social media and has the great opportunity of providing new music, innovations, information and technology to its community, both online and offline. The Roxy is known for its eclectic, must-see lineups that include debuts from Ke$ha, LMFAO, the first (and only) LA club performance by Amy Winehouse, plus landmark shows with rock icons Foo Fighters, Dolly Parton, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Sex Pistols, and more.

THE INTERSPEHERE have posted a video teaser for “Hold On, Liberty” HERE

On “Hold on, Liberty” the band has developed their style between boundless energy, rigorously complex songwriting and melodic esthetics. And almost irreverently, they succeed in giving their catchy melodies and rousing songs true depth and complexity.  On top of all this, they capped their perfectionist tendencies by recording the entire album – in seven days – completely live in the studio.  No corrections and no fixed edges – making this a subtly warm and engaging listen for realists as well as dreamers alike.

DYING FETUS: Enter Studio – Begin Work On New Album

Posted in All Metal, Artist Watch, News, Releases with tags , , , , , , , on December 10, 2011 by Randy

John Gallagher, guitarist and vocalist of DYING FETUS, has announced that the group has entered the studio to record their new full length album. The band will once again be working with longtime producer Steve Wright (Slipknot, Misery Index) at Wrightway Studios in Baltimore, MD.

Set to be released in mid 2012 through Relapse Records, the album will feature nine tracks and is a “return to roots” with production focused slightly more on slam than in the band’s last few works.  Thematically, the album is set to be a good old-fashioned piece of social and political commentary in the style of DYING FETUS as we have come to know.  An official release date and album title will be announced shortly.

“The last album had some groove in it,” stated John, “but [it] was basically a lot of tech; this one is a return to form of older DYING FETUS albums, so to speak- more modern production though, of course.”  “Everything’s tight,” John adds; “…the sound is crushing, the drums are amazing”.

Additionally, DYING FETUS have announced a series of special South American shows set to take place in mid-January.  The band has also been confirmed for next year’s prestigious Maryland Deathfest and France’s Hellfest.  DYING FETUS plan to tour extensively in support of their new album and will be announcing more dates shortly.

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS TO BE INDUCTED INTO THE 2012 ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME IN APRIL

Posted in Artist Watch, News with tags , , , , , , , on December 8, 2011 by Randy

Los Angeles, CA – Multi-platinum rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers will be 2012 inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, which honors legendary artists who have defined rock and roll and have inspired and continue to inspire a generation. To be eligible for nomination, performers must have released their first single or album at least 25 years before the year of nomination.

Formed in Hollywood, California in 1983, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are one of the most flamboyant, commercially successful, and musically influential bands of rock’s last quarter century. Singer Anthony Kiedis, bassist Michael Balzary a/k/a Flea, guitarist Hillel Slovak, and drummer Jack Irons were high-school pals who combined their passions for Jimi Hendrix, ’70s R&B, and hardcore punk with sexual exuberance and local skateboard culture, immediately becoming famous for their outrageous (often near-naked) live shows and incendiary jamming. After Slovak’s death in 1988 and other personnel changes, the Chili Peppers – with guitar prodigy John Frusciante and drummer Chad Smith – broke through with 1991’s BloodSugarSexMagik, a multi-platinum fusion of metal and rap that was pivotal in bringing modern black street culture and music to the Nirvana generation.

The Chili Peppers’ hits have run the melodic and emotional gamut from the fierce hip hop of BloodSugar’s “Give It Away” and the 1992 ballad “Under The Bridge,” (one of the best pop songs ever written about the grip of addiction), to the heavy riffing of “Scar Tissue” and the gorgeous melancholy of “Otherside” on 1999’s Californication. The Chili Peppers’ 2006 two-CD set Stadium Arcadium, an ambitious collection that added ’60s-pop harmonies, blazing psychedelia, and progressive-rock dynamics to their heavy California soul –  debuted at No. 1. After their longest hiatus ever, the Chili Peppers returned over the summer with 2011’s I’m With You (which debuted at No. 1 in 17 countries and has been nominated for a 2012 Grammy Award for Best Rock Album), and a new tour that will take them through 2013.

The 27th annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 14th, 2012, in Cleveland and premiere on HBO in early May. The 2012 ceremony will again be open to the public. Please visit www.rockhall.com for more information.
