CHEVELLE has just announced new headlining tour dates with Middle Class Rut and Janus. The string of shows by the Chicago alternative hard rock trio kicks off on Friday, February 24 in Grand Rapids, MI, and heads east, making a stop atIrving Plaza in New York City on Wednesday, February 29 and crossing the U.S. before wrapping in Oklahoma City, OKon Friday, March 16.

CHEVELLEPETE LOEFFLER (Guitars, Vocals), SAM LOEFFLER (Drums) and DEAN BERNARDINI (Bass, Vocals)—recently released their new album HATS OFF TO THE BULL (Epic Records) which debuted on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart at #19 and is being hailed as one of their finest albums. Its success is being propelled by the explosive first single “Face To The Floor.” With its hypnotic and grinding riff, the song rails against the corporate corruption of Bernie Madoff and Wall Street and is a testament to the band’s songwriting prowess and eternal knack for a hit. “Face To The Floor” continues its reign at the #1 spot at Active Rock radio and is also Top 10 at Modern Rock.

CHEVELLE exclusively premiered the video for “Face To The Floor” last month (12/23) on Vevo.com. The striking performance-based video–directed by P.R. Brown (Mötley Crüe, Smashing Pumpkins, Slipknot)–mirrors the chaotic and economic state currently facing millions of Americans.  Watch the clip here: http://vevo.ly/uG43oq.

HATS OFF TO THE BULL continues to earn high marks from the media. Bob Doershuk of DRUM! wrote, “On their sixth full-length album, ‘hard alternative’ band Chevelle continue in the vein they always have: taut, intelligent, multi-layered rockled by Pete Loeffler’s trenchant vocals. On Hats Off To The Bull, however, The Chicago trio swings for the fences in more ways than one. Loeffler’s sense of outrage on this album is incandescent at times” (January 2012). Liz Ramanand ofLOUDWIRE.COM hailed the album as “an impressive collection of hard-hitting anthems and melodic tracksa solid release filled with heavy riffs, intriguing vocal layers and crashing drum patterns that show Chevelle’s maturity as a bandwhile maintaining the progressive sound that their fans have embraced over the past decade” (12/8/11).

CHEVELLE GETS READY TO RELEASE ‘HATS OFF TO THE BULL’ DECEMBER 6 ::: NEW TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED ::: FULL-LENGTH ALBUM LEAD BY EXPLOSIVE SINGLE ‘FACE TO THE FLOOR,’ #1 ON THE ACTIVE ROCK CHART

Posted in Artist Watch, New Music, News, Releases with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on November 28, 2011 by Randy

Chicago alternative hard rock trio CHEVELLE is getting ready to release their sixth album HATS OFF TO THE BULL, Tuesday, December 6 via Epic Records. In anticipation of the LP, CHEVELLEPETE LOEFFLER (Guitars, Vocals), SAM LOEFFLER (Drums) and DEAN BERNARDINI (Bass, Vocals)–has announced a new string of dates, including a couple high-profile radio shows (dates listed below). Before kicking off their fall trek, the group will perform two special “Project: Occupy Chevelle” gigs; the first in their hometown of Chicago on Tuesday, Nov. 29 at Subterranean and the second in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at the Rock and Roll Hotel.

On Thursday, Dec. 8 CHEVELLE will perform live on ABC TV’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” (12 ET/PT/11pmCT). On Saturday, Dec. 10 the group will join Blink-182, Incubus, Bush, Social Distortion, New Found Glory, 311 and Young the Giant for the sold-out 22nd annual KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas show. They’ll follow up the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas gig with a stop by the nationally syndicated radio show Rockline on Monday, Dec. 12.

HATS OFF TO THE BULL is charging full-speed ahead with the release of the album’s first single “Face To The Floor” which continues its ascent at radio nationwide. As soon as the explosive track hit airwaves, it became the #1 most added record at Active and Alternative Rock radio, a testament to the band’s songwriting prowess and eternal knack for a hit. Billboard magazine singled out the song which currently sits atop the Active Rock chart at #1,

“Over a chugging, post-grunge guitar riff, singer Pete Loeffler proclaims, ‘To Pick up the tip doesn’t mean a lot/Fiddle inside your drawers/If we own the night then spread it out/Or pack up without a clue.’ A succinct survey of how most of the nation is smarting from hard economic times–complete with a Bernie Madoff reference in the lyrics–‘Floor’ delivers nearly four minutes of the cathartic alt-metal fans have come to expect from Chevelle. This time, though, the band wants to stir their minds, not just their tempers.” –Michael B. Depland

Most artists with over 12 years in the music industry lose their initial fire, but CHEVELLE burn brighter than ever on HATS OFF TO THE BULL. Rather than simply subscribing to a tried-and-true formula, they–alongside producer Joe Barresi (Queens of the Stone Age, Coheed and Cambria)–made a conscious effort to incorporate new sounds and textures into their patented airtight anthems. As a result, the group composed its most infectious, intriguing, and impressive offering to date.

“We’re evolving,” declares PETE LOEFFLER. “The album is different, and it’s going to take some people by surprise.” “Face to the Floor”–a song that taps right into the current state of the public’s growing mistrust of economic systems–is emblematic of the band’s progression. A grinding riff snakes through a hypnotic haze as PETE rails against the corporate corruption of Bernie Madoff on one of the most explosive hooks of the band’s career.

Fans can also pre-order the album via their website at www.chevelleinc.com or iTunes at http://bit.ly/v4zCra. Those that purchase on iTunes also get an extra, exclusive track titled “Indifference.” Signed limited edition laminates and album downloads are also available via the band’s official Ebay.com store: http://www.ebay.com/sch/officialchevellemerchstore/m.html.

Chicago alternative hard rock trio CHEVELLE will return December 6 with HATS OFF TO THE BULL (Epic Records), their sixth full-length album. The album’s first single “Face to the Floor,”with its hypnotic, grinding riff, is one of the most explosive songs of the band’s career and is blanketing the airwaves nationwide. “Face to the Floor”–which rails against the corporate corruption of Bernie Madoff and Wall Street–is the greatest gainer at rock radio, entering the Top 10at Active Rock and vaulting into the Top 20 at Mainstream Rock.  The song also debuted at #2 on the iTunes Rock Singles Chart the week of release. Fans can pre-order the album now at: chevelleinc.com and on iTunes beginning November 1.

“It’s an angry song,” reveals lead singer PETE LOEFFLER about the inspiration for “Face to the Floor.” “The lyrics are about all the people who have been taken advantage of. I reference Bernie Madoff and his Ponzi scheme. He raked people over the coalsstole and is a terrible person. One day, these people have everything, and the next day it’s completely gone.”

CHEVELLE will celebrate the release of HATS OFF TO THE BULL with an appearance Thursday, December 8 on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (12/11c).

This summer, CHEVELLE hunkered down in a Los Angeles studio with producer Joe Barresi[Queens of the Stone AgeCoheed and Cambria]. During the sessions, nothing was off limits, and boundaries were non-existent. Rather than simply subscribing to a tried-and-true formula, they made a conscious effort to incorporate new sounds and textures into their patented airtight anthems. As a result, HATS OFF TO THE BULL is one of the group’s most infectious and impressive offerings to date.

“We’re a melodic hard rock band, but we wanted to expand on what that means. It’s really important to be aware of what you’ve done already,” says drummer and PETE’s brother SAM LOEFFLER.  “We never want to write the same song twice. Pete writes 300 days a year. Joe encouraged us to try different instruments and techniques and he pushed us to continually play everything until it was right too. There are so many nuances as a result.” Those nuances come through loud and clear as a talk box echoes through the hard-hitting title track, reverb adds schizophrenic vitality to “The Meddler,” and an organ colors the acoustic “Won’t Be Left Out” with ethereal flourishes.

CHEVELLE preserve their underdog spirit on HATS OFF TO THE BULL and that attitude has characterized the band since its independent debut, 1999‘s Point #1. Shortly after bursting onto the scene, the group made its major label breakthrough on the platinum-selling Wonder What’s Nextin 2002. The album spawned chart-topping hits “Send the Pain Below” and “The Red”, leading to high-profile tours like OZZfest. Meanwhile, their next effort, 2004‘s This Type of Thinking Could Do Us Inexceeded gold status and the follow-up Vena Sera bolstered their prominence even further. Most recently, the band scored its highest entry into the Billboard Top 200 with Sci-Fi Crimes in 2009 debuting at #6.
