Festival visionary PERRY FARRELL, in conjunction with Chile’s Lotus Producciones, WME and C3 Presents–the promotional partners behind the North American LOLLAPALOOZA—has announced the official schedule for the 50-plus acts, including headliners THE KILLERS, JANE’S ADDICTION, and KANYE WEST, who are performing on five stages at the inaugural LOLLAPALOOZA CHILE on Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3 in O’Higgins Park, Santiago. Set times and stage information for the festival–taking place at gorgeous scenic locale in the middle of a bustling urban hub–are now readily available on the LOLLAPALOOZA CHILE web site (http://www.lollapalooza.cl/en/). The schedule can also be viewed below.
In addition, the festival—featuring an eclectic lineup of top talent from around the world including an array of artists from Chile–will showcase a myriad of “extracurricular” fun beyond the music.
The “Kidzapalooza” area, like the one at LOLLAPALOOZA in North America, promises to make the concert experience truly enriching for the whole family. In this area, kids have free reign to enjoy a variety of fun. A unique component of the area is the presence of LEGO who will have custom sculptures and different activities involving the toy building brick. Kidzapalooza will also have workshops for break dancing, hip-hop, skateboarding, percussion and even juggling and a unique “Kidz Paint Party” which gives the option to paint a personal masterpiece alongside a renowned artist. Temporary tattoos and body art will be available on site. Kids of all ages are welcome.
LOLLAPALOOZA CHILE also features a rock star video karaoke section, where everyone can try their hand at being a rock star. Not only can visitors belt out their favorite tune with rock star accessories, they can take home recordings to share with friends. Concert-goers will be able to meet various festival artists at artist autograph sessions where you can pick up on the latest CDs and vinyl of your favorite performers.
The festival also has rest and relaxation options. There will be a hammock zone where attendees can kick back and relax in the comfort of a warm hammock.
There’s also an important spirit coursing through LOLLAPALOOZA CHILE’S framework. “Green Spirit,” located at the park’s entrances, is a spot to have a picnic at the Farmer’s Market, visit Lolla Cares and support a good cause, or purchase sustainable products at the Art Market. There will be workshops promoting the development of green activities and awareness including recycling, urban agriculture, and more. Fans can also pick up posters and handmade tables with environmentally friendly materials related to music, nature, and the festival.
“Rock & Recycle” is another unique initiative at LOLLAPALOOZA CHILE. It encourages all fest-goers to recycle. Nearly 1000 volunteers will support recycling, and there will be green incentives where rewards given by the organization to those who pitch in. 300 containers on the grounds will be distinctively designated for waste throughout the park making recycling easy for all attendees.
Just like its American cousin, LOLLAPALOOZA CHILE is more than a music festival; it’s an experience that’s as enlightening as it is enjoyable. And Chile has rolled out the welcome mat for the festival; a campaign with Chilean public transportation has been implemented with artwork on nearly 1000 buses and 2000 bus stops.
