D GENERATION TO PERFORM ALONGSIDE GUNS N’ ROSES IN DECEMBER

Posted in Artist Watch, News with tags , , , , , , , , on November 18, 2011 by Randy
Los Angeles, CA – New York City’s highly influential rock band D Generation will perform with legendary rockers Guns N’ Roses at The Palace of Auburn Hills in Detroit on December 1 and at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati on December 2.
“We’re really honored to have been asked to play with Guns N Roses,” says vocalist Jesse Malin.  “Tommy Stinson played on one of my solo records a while back and we’ve known each other for years.  We’ve always had great shows in the mid-west and are looking forward to it again.”
“We are always happy to play to new people,” adds guitarist/vocalist Danny Sage.  “I wish there were more!  We’re flattered…It’s nice to be asked by a band that could have asked anyone.  We appreciate it.”
Formed in 1991, D Generation released three highly influential and critically acclaimed albums, D GenerationNo Lunch and Through the Darkness, and toured with rock legends Social Distortion, Green Day, Cheap Trick, The Misfits, The Ramones and Kiss among others before going on hiatus to pursue personal projects in 1999.  Over the last decade, Malin has enjoyed a successful solo career while Danny Sage (guitar/vocals), Howie Pyro (bass), Michael Wildwood (drums) and Richard Bacchus (guitar/vocals) have all worked on a variety of their own high profile projects.  In early 2011, D Generation returned to the stage for their first live shows since 1999.
“We never saw it as “breaking up” or even this being a “reunion”,” Malin says.  “We’ve known each other forever and have always been in each other’s lives.  I’ve been doing my solo thing for the last several years and the rest of the guys have been doing their thing as well.  We always knew we’d be playing together again.”
“I’m proud to see the band working a lot again,” says Sage.  “I believe in the band. I always did.  The band should be out there, onstage.  I think we play it differently than a lot of other rock n roll bands nowadays…We have a chemistry and a volatility that is kinda lacking lately.  It’s been going great; the gigs have been some of the best we’ve ever played.”

Fans in the Midwest can catch the rare chance to see D Generation in their finest form, live in concert with Guns N’ Roses this December in Detroit and Cincinnati.
“We’re looking towards the new year and I am sure we’re gonna have a bunch of releases, a best of, a new album and a lot more touring…that’s the most important part for us,” adds Sage.

Hot off the heels of a recent radio promo tour, the band is eager to get out and play some new tunes from their upcoming album Thick as Thieves. The album’s lead single and title track continues to gain momentum at active rock radio, pushing in to the Top 30 this week. In addition to climbing the charts, “Thick As Thieves” has been steadily winning head-to-head battles on radio station’s websites, beating out bands such as The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Foo Fighters.

“We’ve been itching to get out and play the new stuff for the fans,” commented Cavo singer Casey Walker. “These select few shows close to home are a great way for us to get in game shape in anticipation of a nationwide tour in early 2012!”

The new Cavo EPK saw its premiere on Monday (11/14) on AlternativeAddiction.com http://www.alternativeaddiction.com/musicnews/article/2308/Casey-Walker-Talks-About-the-Cavo-Follow-Up. The storyline traces Cavo’s evolution over the past few years, and also features an Alternative Addiction exclusive interview with singer Casey Walker.

Cavo experienced an incredible measure of success with its debut, 2009’s Bright Nights Dark Days, which yielded the No. 1 hit “Champagne.” The band’s rise to the top of the charts and subsequent touring nearly tore them apart, leaving their relationships with each other and as a unit in shreds. After a brief break and careful examination of their friendships and motives, Cavo decided to soldier on together. Thick as Thieves is the band’s testament to their bond that was once broken and has now been rebuilt and even strengthened. The title track and first single showcases front man Casey Walker’s soaring vocals with a message furthering the notion that things are tighter than ever in the Cavo ranks.

Formed in St. Louis in 2002, Cavo is Chris Hobbs (guitar), Chad LaRoy (drums), Brian Smith (bass) and Casey Walker (vocals). The band’s last album, Bright Nights Dark Days, was released on Reprise Records in 2009 and sold over 120,00 albums and over 450,000 singles. Cavo has toured with Daughtry, Shinedown, Lifehouse, and Puddle of Mudd among others.

New Jersey pop-rock band, Ocean Grove, just released their EP, Another Place To Stay, to great success during summer 2011. The band is currently preparing to extensively hit the road on two tours. First up, a 10-date, South American tour opening for their good friend and musical collaborator, Nick Jonas. Once the band makes it back to the states they’ll be embarking on a co-headlining tour alongside Voxhaul Broadcast with very special guest Robert Schwartzman, vocalist of Rooney (all tour dates below). For more information, please visit: www.oceangroveband.com

Bands come together in various ways, usually by chance meetings, Craigslist ads, or music class- but few can say their lineup was created after sharing the experience of playing in a backing band for one of the biggest bands in the world. After touring the globe and enjoying some of the greatest times of their lives, John Taylor (vocals/guitar), Ryan Liestman (keys/backing vocals), Greg Garbowsky (bass/backing vocals), Jack Lawless (drums) decided it was time to start their own project, one that would see them develop a truly unique rock n’ roll sound – Ocean Grove.

Once Ocean Grove finished their tour commitments, they were ready to record their first EP Little Record. In Spring 2010, they spent time in LA writing with various co-writers, but once recorded, the band knew the EP wasn’t the exact direction they had hoped to take. They packed up and went back to the East coast- to Ocean Grove, New Jersey.

There, the band shacked up in a beautiful Victorian home near the ocean to focus on a real and more rock n’ roll sound. After recording 14 songs in two weeks, Ocean Grove finally felt they had come into their own. The EP, Another Place to Stay, mixed by Paul Hager (Van Halen, Goo Goo Dolls, American Hi-Fi) and mastered by Howie Weinberg (Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Beastie Boys) is an EP filled with feel good songs pulling from their greatest influences such as The Beach Boys, Tom Petty, and Weezer. The inspiration for the EP came from years of experiences and all the little things life throws our way.

The band is proud of all their past accomplishments like having played with acts such as Stevie Wonder, Brad Paisely, Vince Gill and performing on over 50 television shows, but Ocean Grove is ready to continue something truly special and all their own, just like their bond as a band. With their new EP, and positive outlook on all that’s to come, they are ready for just about anything.
