October 8, 2013 – (Burbank, CA) – New York City’s very own SKATERS have announced that their upcoming debut album will be released by Warner Bros. Records on February 25, 2014 in the U.S. and February 24, 2014, in the U.K. The album’s first vinyl single is “Deadbolt,” and will be released digitally on Oct 29th, and pressed on glorious 7″ vinyl and available for sale on Black Friday / Record Store Day, Nov 29th. The single has already been released in the U.K. (its first public broadcast was Oct 2nd on the ultra-cool Huw Stephens’ BBC Radio show) where the band are quickly amassing an ardent following.

A brand new lyric video has been created for “Deadbolt,” andwill premiere on PureVolume.Combeginning today. The clip was directed by Bill Richards and can be viewed here

What the U.K. press has been saying:

“We present to you SKATERS – the best band to emerge from Manhattan since…great writing and an incessantly creative arrangement. Gloriously inventive grooves, wonderfully nonchalant vocal and constantly engaging composition. SKATERS have got that vintage lo-fi pop sound down to a tee so what are you waiting for?” – ThisFeeling.Com (UK)

“Like the Beach Boys, who famously didn’t surf (Dennis Wilson excepted), SKATERS don’t skate… [songs] reeking of subways and steam hissing from backstreet vents with a clattering urgency . It’s the end of the world as we know it … and SKATERS feel fine.” – The Guardian (UK daily)

Back home in the USA, the media know what’s up:

“New York band SKATERS want to be your new party soundtrack. Wait, scratch that – this band doesn’t want to deliver the late-night anthems only to you. They want to serve ’em up to your friends, your little brother, and pretty much everyone you know.” These guys are well on their way to cementing their place on the sweaty dark dance floors everywhere.” – NylonMag.Com

Lights Over Paris to Release New Single, ‘I’m Not a Gangsta’ this Spring Planning Release of New Album in Spring of 2011

Posted in Releases with tags , , , on March 1, 2011 by Randy

Turn Off The Lights EP is Available Now on iTunes and Amazon.com

Los Angeles, CA electro-pop punk group LIGHTS OVER PARIS is pleased to announce the upcoming release of their next single, ‘I’m Not a Gangsta’. The single is produced by Dr. Luke’s Ammo (Britney Spears, Ke$ha, Katy Perry) and will be released in mid-April 2011. ‘I’m Not a Gangsta’ is cut from the band’s upcoming untitled release which is due out this spring. The album also features producers Kool Kojak (Flo Rida), Matt Squire (3OH3!, Ke$ha, Panic and the Disco, Boys Like Girls) and features singer Dev (Like a G6, Bass Down Low).

“’I’m Not a Gangsta’ and any single will make you fall in love with the actual band, not just the song,” states vocalist Robb “TaLLLLL” University.

LIGHTS OVER PARIS’ sound encompasses the styles of their many influences in rock, pop, electro, and punk. The band harkens back to a late 90’s punk rock mentality while looping around pop turns and dance rock twists, with the occasional hip-hop influence thrown in for good measure.

The band’s debut single off of their 2010 Turn Off The Lights EP, title track ‘Turn Off The Lights’, is currently in rotation on numerous Top 40 stations across the country, and has been downloaded over 100,000 times. The music video by RockHard Films (Lady Gaga) premiered on Yahoo Music’s highly trafficked home page on June 3, 2010, and has been viewed over 1 million times on YouTube. The band was also the first in history to be featured on Pandora with an album only previously distributed digitally. The EP is produced by Kevin Rudolf (Lil Wayne, Cobra Starship, Lifehouse) and mixed by Tom and Chris Lord-Alge (Blink-182, Sum 41) and Serban Ghenea (Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Britney Spears). The EP officially dropped in April 2010 via Digital Records/Type One Records. Fans can listen to the Turn Off The Lights EP at http://lightsoverparis.bandcamp.com.

In support of the EP, LIGHTS OVER PARIS concluded their sold-out U.S. “Turn Off The Lights Tour” in October 2010. The tour was sponsored by Anheuser-Busch, Monster Energy Drink and Icelandic Glacial H2O and promoted drinking responsibly while helping fans stay hydrated!

LIGHTS OVER PARIS initially came together in 2002 by way of a very happy accident. Vocalist Robb “TaLLLLL” University created an AOL profile and listed “singing in the shower” as one of his hobbies. Keyboardist Will Pepper searched for singers nearby and stumbled upon Robb. They bonded instantly and recorded five songs after their first meeting. Those songs eventually made way for the band to meet with well-known producer Kevin Rudolf.

The band—Robb “TaLLLLL” University (Vocals), Will Pepper (Keys), Devin Bronson (Guitar), Mike Torres (Bass), Dave Gentry (Drums) and Shiny (DJ)—could be sonic superheroes. From Robb’s larger than life pipes to Will Pepper’s keyboard sorcery, each element makes for evolutionary dance rock. Vocalist Robb “TaLLLLL” University describes their one-of-a-kind sonic movement. “Each song is completely different because they’re all amplifications of our diverse personalities. We play what we want, and the music is always going to be fresh and new.”

Robb concludes, “There are choices I’ve made because of my favorite bands. I want kids to feel that way about our music. I want them to be inspired to do something that they might’ve been afraid to do before. We’re already creating a community with our fans as well. This is the start of something insane.”

Keyboardist Will Pepper states it in the best way possible. “LIGHTS OVER PARIS is the biggest fucking movement in music, what else needs to be said?”
