TheRockTribune’s coverage of the 2012 Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Fest

2012 marks the third year for the Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival, and as the two prior, it’s a must see for all.  This year’s line up is packed with talent, from bands like Candlelight Red and P.O.D. on the side stages, to the big boys on the main stage such as Staind, Godsmack, and Shinedown.  A classic display of old and new, and being the last big tour of the summer, this may be the only thing that’ll carry you through winter until it all starts over in the spring.

Second stages tend to be where the fan/artist intimacy resides, as it gives the fans a chance to get as close as their heart’s desire and go nuts with the Gods on stage.  2012’s side stages were off the charts in Pittsburgh, PA and will continue to be throughout the rest of the tour as long as the fans show up ready to party and give the bands energy to feed off of.  The Ernie Ball and Jager stages didn’t have an act that was disappointing…every band walked out on stage like they owned the place and threw down a performance to back up that attitude.  Two of the most impressive acts were Candlelight Red on the Jager stage and P.O.D. on the Ernie ball stage, with CLR being fairly new to the game…they may have won “most impressive.”  They stepped out with a fairly small group of people in the pit, but after their second or third song they had drew an enormous crowd…real fist pumping, “heart beating out of the chest” mayhem.   Old school nu-metalers P.O.D, a band everyone knows, had the task of headlining the side stages.  They straight up set the tone for everyone on the main stage with ease and passion that has fueled them for years and marked them as one of the top three performances of the whole day.  If an act has to be labeled as someone who needs to “step it up,” then the award goes to Deuce.  The performance they had put on was decent, but for someone who the media and radio stations hype up so much, it didn’t meet expectations.

Main stage acts included Staind (3 consecutive albums debuted at #1) and Godsmack, but let’s not forget Adelitas Way.  They are the first band to come out and “break in” the main stage at every city on this tour.  The entire band is crowd friendly and makes sure the fans have fun and enjoy themselves as much as they do.  As previously mentioned… Staind, always a stellar and consistent performance, (even though Aaron Lewis sings about being a country boy from time to time) is still relevant to hard rock. Godsmack also threw down, with Sully Erna wheeling out (recorded drums on Godsmack’s first album) a complete second drum set, rattling off drum solos alongside drummer Shannon Larkin.  When they stepped off stage it left the entire venue with mouths wide open and set the bar awfully high for headliner Shinedown. Their performance was sadly the low point of the day…the band just didn’t show up with a great set list and had a lack luster show that had some fans leaving before it was even half way over.  It doesn’t look good when you’re the “main attraction” and you can’t keep everyone’s attention.  But maybe someone should tell front man Brent Smith that the year is 2012 and he should be banging his head since he’s a rocker, not attempting to shake his hips like Elvis.  Hats off to Rockstar Energy Drink for putting together another great line up this year.  All that’s left is to sit back and wonder what next year will behold.

In addition, the Ernie Ball Stage and Jägermeister Stage in the festival area will include performances from multiplatinum headliner P.O.D., as well as up-and-coming artists Deuce, Fozzy, Redlight King, Mindset Evolution (winner of the 2011 UPROAR Battle Of The Bands), In This Moment, Thousand Foot Krutch, Candlelight Red and a local Battle Of The Bands winner.

***UPDATE***

Papa Roach has been forced to withdraw from the Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival. Lead singer Jacoby Shaddix has been diagnosed with a nodule on his left vocal cord, and at the advice of his physician he will undergo corrective surgery to remove the nodule and prevent further damage.

“It’s no secret that I’ve been having issues with my voice lately. I was hoping to be able to go out there and kill it on this tour by resting and doing vocal exercises, but my voice has just gone out on me. I hate to let our fans down, but unfortunately surgery is the only way to fix it,” Shaddix said. “The last thing we want to do is give our fans less than 100% every night. We know they’ll understand and we’ll be back better than ever.”

“It was amazing having Papa Roach on the road with us for the first few UPROAR shows. We’re disappointed that they can’t continue for the rest of the tour, but Jacoby’s health is the priority and we wish him a speedy recovery,” says Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival co-producer John Oakes.

Beginning Friday, August 24, the Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival main stage schedule will be adjusted to allow longer performances from Shinedown, Godsmack, Staind and Adelitas Way.

ADRENALINE MOB READY SELF-TITLED DEBUT EP SLATED FOR RELEASE ON AUGUST 9TH

Posted in Artist Watch, News with tags , , , on August 3, 2011 by Randy

Band To Hit The Road on First Ever Tour Starting August 14th

Also Opening for Godsmack on Select Tour Stops

(New York, NY – August 2nd, 2011) – The hard rock music genre is finally getting a long overdue injection of aggression when Adrenaline Mob releases their self-titled debut EP on August 9th. The EP will available via iTunes as well as sold in physical form at the band’s upcoming shows and online store.  Self-produced by the band, Adrenaline Mob features 4 original tracks as well as a blistering cover of the Dio-era Black Sabbath classic, “The Mob Rules.”  From the opening riff of “Psychosane” through the over 6 minute epic sounding “Hit The Wall,” it is clear that Adrenaline Mob are inclass all their own as musicians.

“Releasing the EP gives fans around the world a chance to get a taste of the Mob NOW without having to wait until the full length album comes out at the beginning of next year,” states Portnoy.

Comprised of some of rock music’s most notable faces and names, one thing Adrenaline Mob is not is a side project.  The band is made up of the powerful and soaring vocals of Russell Allen, the shredding guitar attack of Mike Orlando and the rock solid rhythm playing of Rich Ward, the drivingbass groove of Paul DiLeo and the legendary drumming of Mike Portnoy.

Hot on the heels of the release of Adrenaline Mob, the band will be heading out on their first ever headline tour on August 14th, which runs through mid-September. The tour kicks off in Allentown, PA and will be making stops in various markets including Chicago, Denver and San Francisco to name a few. A live video of the band performing“The Mob Rules” from their debut live show can be viewed here and is approaching 120,000 views since it was put up a month ago.  The band has also been tapped to open for Godsmack on select dates of their upcoming tour.

Adrenaline Mob formed in 2011 when Orlandoapproached Allen with some song ideas.  Allen and Orlando refined those ideas at which time Allen reached out to long-time friend Portnoy to see if he had any interest in playing with them.  Portnoy jumped on-board and soon thereafter, DiLeo and Ward were recruited to join the family.  From the very first note, the chemistry was apparent and the beast that is known as Adrenaline Mob was born.
