Lead guitarist Jimmy Hitula comments, “I’m super f***ing excited about the release! We’ve worked hard and waited a long time to deliver this beast of an album to the world. This is by far the hardest, heaviest and most diverse album we have ever created.” Drummer Dave Sundberg adds, “We really managed to carve out the best from our influences. Ranging from thrash metal, hardcore to the huge choruses of 80´s heavy metal and mold it into our proudest achievement to date, Now And Forever!”

STONE SOUR: HOUSE OF GOLD & BONES PART 1 OUT TODAY; FIRST SINGLE “ABSOLUTE ZERO” IS TOP FIVE AT ROCK RADIO

Posted in All Metal, Artist Watch, New Music, News, Releases with tags , , , , , , on October 22, 2012 by Randy

New York, NY (October 22, 2012) – Grammy-nominated rock band Stone Sour will release part one of a two album series, House of Gold & Bones, on Roadrunner Records today, October 22, 2012.  Recorded at Sound Farm Studios just outside of the band’s native Des Moines, Iowa with producer David Bottrill (Tool, Muse) at the helm, the album has met with early rave reviews worldwide.

Singer, songwriter and lyricist Corey Taylor, himself a bestselling author courtesy of last year’s Seven Deadly Sins, wrote the lyrics for the 23 tracks that make up House of Gold & Bones as a linear storyline, which follows the compelling story of a character created by Taylor.  Music is just one of the mediums used to tell the story; Corey Taylor recently revealed details of the new project with Dark Horse Comics, House of Gold & Bones which follows, and expands on, the story contained within the albums.  With stunning covers from Jason Shawn Alexander (Empty Zone, Batman, Abe Sapien), this limited four-issue series marks Corey Taylor’s debut in the comics genre.

Stone Sour recently announced two intimate hometown shows October 28 and 29th, both of which sold out in minutes.  The band has also confirmed the first leg of a massive global tour push to support House of Gold & Bones, playing shows on five continents so far, with many more to come.

Texas In July: The Review

Posted in All Metal, Artist Watch, News, Releases, Reviews with tags , , , , , , , , , on October 22, 2012 by Randy

The album explodes with the blistering tune “Cry Wolf,” which consists of every sound they have used in the past, just more refined. Vocalist Alex Good hasn’t let up one bit on his eardrum pounding vocals, but has added a toned down raspy growl accentuated by screams and a bit of a yell on the side…still bringing the intensity and passion.  The magnificent guitar work that is displayed on this album is like nothing they have ever done before.  Christian Soyer and Chris Davis have busted out a melodic sound on a majority of the songs.  “Crux Lust” and the single “Bed of Nails” are just brutal, technical songs, that highlight another instrumental aspect that makes TIJ one of the best metal bands on the charts: the beats laid down by drummer Adam Gray.

Texas In July” might just be one of the best albums released this year, currently holding its own near the top with a highly notable band, As I Lay Dying.  So cash your paycheck, get to the store (or iTunes) and purchase this beautiful work of art that will keep your head banging for hours.

Killswitch Engage to Embark on Alive or Just Breathing 10th Anniversary Tour :: Tour Launches November 24 in San Bernardino :: Band to Play Alive or Just Breathing in Full

Posted in All Metal, Artist Watch, New Music, News, Releases with tags , , , , , , , on October 1, 2012 by Randy
(New York, NY): On May 21, 2002, Killswitch Engage released their second album and Roadrunner Records debut, Alive or Just Breathing. The album went on to become definitive of the critic-created New Wave of American Heavy Metal genre, thanks to its explosive choruses, intensely personal, spiritual and provocative lyrics and ability to vacillate between extremely brutal and melodically beautifully. It was, in a word, a benchmark release.

To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the album, the band will be embarking on an intimate, crowd-pleasing Alive or Just Breathing 10th Anniversary Tour in the U.S, which launches on November 24 in San Bernardino and wraps on December 20 in Portland, Maine. KsE will be headlining the annual California Metalfest in San Bernardino, CA on November 24 to kick off the tour.

With original frontman Jesse Leach, who left the band shortly after AOJB’s release, back in the fold since early 2012, the time was more than perfect for the band to celebrate the album with a tour during which they will play the entire album from start to finish. They will also play other more recent hits.

It’s only appropriate that longtime Massachusetts cohorts Shadows Fall, who came up in the same scene as KsE, will serve as main support. Opening act Acaro also hail from Massachusetts, making it somewhat of a hometown affair.

“I honestly never thought I would have the opportunity to sing these songs on stage with Killswitch again,” Leach said. “Now here I am back in the band and celebrating 10 years of the release of this record. I am absolutely thrilled for this tour. I can’t wait to sing ‘Rise inside’ and ‘Just Barely Breathing’ among others. On top of it all, we have our good friends in Shadows Fall and Acaro joining us. This tour will be one we will all remember! “

Guitarist Joel Stroetzel echoed those sentiments, saying, “We’re all looking forward to this tour! It’s going to be a great time on all levels. Playing songs we haven’t played in many years, celebrating the 10th anniversary of Alive or Just Breathing with Jesse now back in the band, and just hanging out with some great old friends — we’re psyched.”

Advance tickets for all shows will be $20.02, in honor of the year the album was released. The band will also be making a limited number of tickets available per show for the price of $5.21, in honor of the date the album was released, to military personnel with the help of VetTix.org. Vet Tix pre-sale begins on October 2, while public onsales start October 5.

Alive or Just Breathing was also recently elected to Decibel’s esteemed and elite Hall of Fame. The album’s extensive Hall of Fame profile will be featured in the December issue of the magazine, arriving just in time for the tour.
