THEATRE BREAKS LOOSE STREAMS NEW EP STRANGER PLACES, GREATER THINGS TODAY FOR AOL LISTENING PARTY

Posted in Artist Watch, New Music, News with tags , , , , on November 14, 2011 by Randy

Oklahoma’s favorite pop rock sons THEATRE BREAKS LOOSE want you to join the party! Stranger Places, Greater Things, the band’s breakthrough EP releasing tomorrow, is a featured listen at AOL’s Listening Party. Drawing comparisons to such heavy hitters as Acceptance, The Almost and Cute is What We Aim For, THEATRE BREAKS LOOSE is a band with heart and the chops to back it up.

Stranger Places, Greater Things, Theatre Breaks Loose newest EP, has all of the elements you would expect from a pop punk outfit; driving beats, chorus-like bridges, melodic keyboard and emotional lyrics. Yet somehow, Theatre Breaks Loose makes the sometimes redundant pop punk genre interesting by experimenting with trade-off vocals, multiplying melodies, and a complimenting yet not overbearing accompaniment.” –Hopecore.com Magazine

THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND JOIN FORCES WITH ENTERTAINMENT ONE DISTRIBUTION TO MARKET TWO LABELS: PEACH RECORDS AND ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND RECORDING COMPANY; THREE INITIAL RELEASES SET FOR DECEMBER 6 DVD OF 40TH ANNIVERSARY SHOW PLANNED

Posted in Artist Watch, News with tags , , , , , , , on November 14, 2011 by Randy
Iconic Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND have announced a distribution agreement with Entertainment One Music to market two signature band-owned labels: PEACH RECORDS for the sales of its previous Sanctuary label releases and new live recordings of the current band as well as the ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND RECORDING COMPANY for the release of archival recordings featuring the late DUANE ALLMAN and BERRY OAKLEY. The deal begins with three CDs and one DVD streeting December 6.

First up in the new deal: the live S.U.N.Y. AT STONYBROOK, NY 9/19/1971 album. The acclaimed Stonybrook show–the only soundboard recording of “Blue Sky” to feature the late founding members DUANE ALLMAN and BERRY OAKLEY–had only previously been available through mail order and at ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND shows.

PEACH RECORDS will re-release the ABB’s out-of-print studio album HITTIN’ THE NOTE and re-issue the gold-certified LIVE AT THE BEACON THEATRE DVD, both of which were originally released in 2003 and feature the band’s current line-up.  It will also re-issue the live album ONE WAY OUT, which features ABB classics as well as newer material including the Grammy-nominated “Instrumental Illness.”  ONE WAY OUT and LIVE AT THE BEACON THEATRE were recorded in 2003 at the group’s legendary annual March shows at New York City’s Beacon Theatre.  HITTIN’ THE NOTE, the BEACON DVD and ONE WAY OUT had been available via Sanctuary Music.

The group is also planning the 2012 release of their 40th anniversary show held in 2009 at the Beacon Theatre.  It was dedicated to the memory of Duane Allman, seminal guitarist and founder of the band, and to help celebrate Duane’s legacy.  On March 26, 2009 the group performed each of their first two albums in their entirety: the self-titled 1969 debut (including iconic live staples “Dreams” and “Whipping Post”) and their 1970 album Idlewild South (which features “Revival,” “Midnight Rider” and “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed”).

“Finally, after 40 years, the Allman Brothers Band are making records for their own label, without any interference from non-musicians,” says GREGG ALLMAN. “The band has always maintained a close watch over all of its music,” says longtime manager Bert Holman.  “This new relationship will allow us to get music into fans’ hands quicker and more readily than ever and will give us the added marketing support that these projects deserve.”

Of HITTIN’ THE NOTE, Steve Morse of the Boston Globe said, “one listen will convince you that the Allmans are really hitting a new peak…it’s so good that it should immediately silence any skeptics who are hung up over the Allman’s old days (3/28/03)” and both the Philadelphia Daily News and Entertainment Weekly gave it an “A” grade, with the latter calling it a “masterful 11-track set (4/14/03).”   Of ONE WAY OUT, Robert Christgau said it’s “The best live album of their career because both age and youth suit them…they’re better now than they ever were.”

Jim Cuomo, eOne Executive VP and GM says, “I am ecstatic that the band is taking control of their work. They are the preeminent American band with a massive, rabid and ever growing fan base who is hungry for the repertoire the band is about to make available to them.  eOne will be bringing to bear the level of focus and intensity to our sales and marketing efforts that the band has earned and so richly deserves, as we introduce this material to the marketplace.”

The group–GREGG ALLMAN (vocals and keyboards), BUTCH TRUCKS (drums and tympani), JAIMOE (drums), WARREN HAYNES (vocals, lead and slide guitar), DEREK TRUCKS (slide and lead guitar), OTEIL BURBRIDGE (bass) and MARC QUINONES (congas and percussion)–have scaled back their aggressive touring schedule to allow band members to focus on their projects, but will hit the road for six “evening with” shows beginning November 25.

AUGUSTANA TO KICK OFF TOUR JANUARY 2012

Posted in Artist Watch, New Music, News with tags , , , , on November 14, 2011 by Randy

November 11, 2011 – Los Angeles, CA – Augustana today announced they will hit the road this January for a three-week tour kicking off at House of Blues in Anaheim, CA on January 17th.  Tickets for the tour went on sale today, Friday, November 11, 2011 at 10AM local time.

“There has been some confusion regarding the current state of Augustana,” says Dan Layus.  “While some members have parted ways, Augustana will continue to tour and perform. We’ll be playing songs from all three albums and new material.  We look forward to seeing you all in the New Year”

Released in April of 2011, Augustana’s self titled album was recorded in Los Angeles with Grammy Award-winning producer/engineer Jacquire King, who is known for his work with Kings of Leon and Norah Jones, among others.  The album delivers on the emotionally resonant, rootsy pop/rock that Augustana have become known for.  The magazine Alternative Press hailed the songs “alternate between gorgeous piano based ballads and twangy rockers each wrapped in Dan Layus’ warbled vocals and effortless melodies,” and the Seattle Times proclaimed “Every track is album-worthy on a disc built for a spring that may eventually come (check out “Shot in the Dark”) – sunglasses, convertible-top down, road trips. Bring it on.”

Augustana launched onto the scene with their major-label debut, 2005’s All The Stars and Boulevards. The album reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. It also spawned two Top 40 hits, “Stars and Boulevards” and “Boston,” which was certified digital platinum. The band’s follow-up, 2008’s Can’t Love, Can’t Hurt spawned the singles “Sweet and Low,” and “I Still Ain’t Over You.”
